The Winter Romania Historic Rally 2026 returns for its milestone 10th edition from Thursday 15 to Saturday 17 January 2026, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Carpathian Mountains in Transylvania, one of Romania’s most dramatic and challenging winter landscapes.

 

Under the direction of Paul Lacombe, together with Simon Arpad, George Grigorescu, Régis Dufresne, and Marie-Laure Alain, the organizing team has curated an exceptional event that promises an unforgettable experience for both competitors and spectators.

 

Epic Winter Challenge for Classic Rally Legends

This year’s Winter Romania Historic Rally promises three exhilarating days of competition on snow- and ice-covered roads, centred around the picturesque town of Covasna. Competitors will tackle stunning stages across the frozen Comandău Plateau, experiencing the pure thrill and demanding conditions that only a winter rally can deliver.

 

Total distance: approx. 380 km
Timed stages: 220 km
New special stage: a 30 km loop, run in both directions


Packed with sliding, spectacle, and unmatched driving excitement, the event offers an unforgettable challenge for rally enthusiasts of all levels.


Categories & Eligibility


The rally is held under the auspices of FRAS (Romanian Federation of Sports Cars) and welcomes a diverse range of participants:

VHC & LEGEND categories
VHRS and VMRS (2- and 4-wheel drive) for cars registered before 31/12/1999, with or without PTH
Junior category for young drivers aged 16–20
Limited spaces available for Modern and VIP/Opening Cars


Whether behind the wheel of a vintage rally car, a classic sports model, or a legendary icon from motorsport’s golden era, this rally provides a unique opportunity to push your machine to its limits in extreme winter conditions.

 

Rally Headquarters

The Clermont Spa Hotel in Covasna will once again serve as the rally’s headquarters, welcoming competitors and officials while hosting all administrative and technical checks.

 


Registration opened: September 1, 2025, & Closing date: December 20, 2025

Entry fee: €3,400, Early bird discount: €3,100 (register before November 30, 2025, and save €300), 

Recognitions: January 13–14, 2026.

Administrative & technical checks: January 13 (14:30–19:00) & January 14 (09:00–12:00 / 14:30–19:00).

Shakedown: January 15, 2026

(11:00–14:30), Stage 1: January 15, 2026 (16:30–20:00), Stage 2: January 16, 2026 (09:00–17:00), Stage 3: January 17, 2026 (09:00–16:00)
