Red Bull Racing to host Wings For Life World Run

ORACLE RED BULL RACING WILL WELCOME WORLD RUNNERS TO THEIR CAMPUS FOR THE FIRST-EVER WINGS FOR LIFE WORLD RUN APP EVENT AT THEIR HOME IN MILTON KEYNES

Oracle Red Bull Racing will open its doors to World Runners of the 13th edition of the Wings for Life World Run on Sunday 10 May, as it hosts its first-ever App Run Event at the Red Bull Technology Campus in Milton Keynes, UK.

Joining forces with Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, who will host a separate event at their factory in Faenza, Italy, the initiative will see both Formula One teams host an App Run Event. The aim of the event is to bring together members from both Teams and their local communities to take part and raise funds for their shared charity, Wings for Life, supporting the goal of finding a cure for spinal cord injury.

As the lights go out, World Runners will take to the paths walked by Laurent Mekies, Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar as the course follows a 1.87km loop through the factory and in true Red Bull style, competitors can refuel at the Oracle Red Bull Racing pit lane.

The Wings for Life World Run takes place simultaneously around the globe, making it the largest running event in the world, with each run starting at the same time, 12:00 GMT. From Los Angeles to Melbourne, there are over 450 App Run Events with over 300k participants expected to show up all over the globe.

Participants can run, walk or roll as they are chased by the Catcher Car, a moving finish line that when it catches up with a World Runner it signals the end of their race. Whilst the Catcher Car appears physically at some event locations, a virtual car follows those participating via the App, meaning people from all over the world can take part.

The Wings for Life World Run is open to everyone, from professional athletes and experienced runners to beginners and wheelchair users, all bound by the same goal of supporting Wings for Life, where 100% of funds raised will support scientific research aimed at finding a cure for spinal cord injury.

Laurent Mekies, CEO and Team Principal at Oracle Red Bull Racing and Wings for Life Ambassador, said: “I feel very privileged and honoured to be named an Ambassador of Wings for Life. It’s a charity that is extremely close to our hearts at Oracle Red Bull Racing, founded by Dietrich Mateschitz, together we support the mission to find a cure for spinal cord injury. We will be hosting a Wings for Life World Run App Event on our Campus, open to our Team and members of the community, who will run around our factory for a cause that allows us to race with a purpose.”

Through the Wings for Life World Run App, participants can join the global race from anywhere in the world, running individually or with friends while being chased by the Virtual Catcher Car. Whether running alongside the Teams in Milton Keynes or Faenza, or taking part remotely, all World Runners contribute to a worldwide movement dedicated to advancing research and changing lives.
