1000 Miglia Experience Italy 2026 kicks off today

1000 Miglia Experience Italy 2026 kicks off today

1000 Miglia Experience Italy returns and will take place entirely in Puglia.

From 9 to 12 April, the crews will embark on a journey that combines a passion for driving with the exploration of iconic landscapes and villages steeped in history, offering the chance to experience authentic Italian style.

The race, organised by 1000 Miglia Sri, will cover a total route of more than 630 kilometres. Over the three days, participants will take part in 65 Time Trials and 6 Average Trials, passing through priceless destinations such as Bari, Alberobello, Ostuni, Lecce and Otranto, starting in Bari and finishing in Taranto.

There are 54 crews entered in this edition of the 1000 Miglia Experience Italy, hailing from 11 different countries. Alongside the large contingent of teams from Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium, the event welcomes participants from the United States, Austria, France, Greece, Great Britain and beyond.

The cars in the race represent the very best of historic and modern motoring. The role of veteran car falls to the splendid 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Spider Zagato, followed by the 1934 Aston Martin Le Mans and the 1935 Singer Le Mans Special Speed. The most represented brand is Ferrari, with a parade of gems ranging from the classic 275 GTB, Dino 246 GT and Testarossa to the modern 488 Pista and SF90 Spider. Porsche also takes centre stage, with an extraordinary variety of models including the 356 Speedster and the various iterations of the 911. Particularly elegant and rare is a 1964 Lancia Flaminia Super Sport Zagato.

The spectacle is guaranteed by a unique travelling museum, where the iconic lines of Jaguars and Mercedes-Benzes from the 1950s and 1960s will interact with the latest supercars, offering an extraordinary glimpse of cutting-edge mechanics and vintage design.

THE PROGRAMME AND EXPERIENCES
A distinctive feature of this event is the alternation between sporting activities and Experiences, moments carefully designed to allow participants to discover the most picturesque spots in the region. The event will begin on Thursday 9 April on the Bari seafront, one of the longest in Europe.

Following technical and administrative checks, the first car will set off at 1.30 pm from Largo Luigi Giannella to tackle the first few kilometres towards the Autodromo del Levante in Binetto, a technical and training route inaugurated in 1989. In the afternoon, the convoy will reach Alberobello for the first Experience amongst the famous Trulli, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. The leg will conclude in Polignano a Mare, the birthplace of Domenico Modugno, with an aperitif overlooking the cliffs of Lama Monachile.

The second leg on Friday 10 April will head towards Salento. Participants will enjoy an Experience amongst the charming alleyways of the "White City" of Ostuni and will then move on to Brindisi for lunch, hosted in the majestic Castello Svevo, headquarters of the San Marco Brigade. The arrival in Lecce, the capital of Apulian Baroque, will coincide with the final time control of the day but not with the end of the sporting activities. After a tour of the historic centre, there will be the Salento Trophy: a thrilling one-on-one challenge in which participants will compete in a precision passage over 40 metres in 9 seconds.

The final leg on Saturday 11 April will take the convoy to the southernmost point of the peninsula. The day will include an Experience in Otranto and a time control at Santa Maria di Leuca at the Santuario de Finibus Terrae. Travelling up the Ionian coast via Gallipoli, the race will conclude in Piazza Maria lmmacolata in Taranto.

To round off the programme, Sunday 12 April will feature a final Experience in Grottaglie to admire the historic Ceramics Quarter and its artisan workshops.
