57 GT3 cars @ Monza GTWC Europe

FOR ONE OF THE MOST ANTICIPATED ENDURANCE RACES OF THE GTWC EUROPE SEASON

After the Prologue for the 24 Hours of Spa, the GTWC Europe teams head to Monza, one of the circuits that has traditionally produced some of the most spectacular battles in the series. The long Monza weekend officially gets under way on Thursday 28 May and will conclude on Sunday 31 May at 18:30, when the chequered flag brings to an end one of the most anticipated endurance races of the season.

The race is expected to be particularly closely fought, with 57 entries representing 10 manufacturers. Setting the pace will be the Mercedes of Lucas Auer and Maro Engel, which leads the provisional standings after the first two races. Alongside the GT3 cars, 80 further cars from the other GT series competing at Monza will also be in action, all supplied by Pirelli: the GT2 European Series, GT4 European Series and McLaren Trophy.

“It will certainly be an interesting and challenging weekend for everyone,” commented Matteo Braga, Circuit Activity Manager Pirelli. “Not only because of the high number of entries and the ever-increasing level of competitiveness in GTWC, but also because the season is now moving into a decisive phase, with several crews ready to try to make an early break. Given the characteristics of the race and the circuit, careful tyre management will be fundamental, also taking into account the expected weather conditions.”

The cars competing in the race will have Pirelli P Zero DHG slick tyres available, as well as Pirelli Cinturato WHB tyres in the event of rain, which is currently forecast as probable during the race itself, at the end of a weekend that is otherwise expected to be very hot.
