Leaders Emerge in Saturday’s Opening Rounds of the HSR Road Atlanta Classic 10 Hour presented by Mission Foods
Sunday’s Final HSR Classic 10 Hour Segments Scheduled to Go Green at 1:15 p.m. EDT
The opening rounds of the second-annual Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) Classic Road Atlanta 10 Hour presented by Mission Foods filled the afternoon at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta Saturday with some familiar and potential first-time winners stepping up to lead their respective Run Groups.
The HSR Classic Road Atlanta 10 Hour is the second round of the 2026 HSR Classic Endurance Championship presented by Mission Foods, which features a four-event schedule of “tribute races” celebrating the biggest and longest-running sports car endurance races in the United States.
This weekend’s event pays homage to the legendary ALMS and now IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship 10-hour race that concludes each year’s contemporary sports car racing season at MRRA. The HSR Classic Road Atlanta 10 Hour features four different Run Groups, each taking to the 2.54-mile Georgia road course for three segments across Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday featured the opening two segments for Run Groups A through D, with strong early performances and strategic execution shaping the provisional results ahead of Sunday’s concluding races.
Fall-Line Motorsports stalwart Mark Boden enters Sunday looking to build on a dominant opening day. Co-driving with Troy Monthye in Group B, Boden opened the weekend with a flawless performance aboard the 2011 Fall-Line Motorsports No. 280 Porsche 997.1, starting from pole and sweeping both segments. The Fall-Line duo claimed overall honors in both rounds as Groups A and B share the track while competing for individual division honors.
Boden has a chance to earn a notable HSR Classic double-class podium finish this weekend competing in both Run Groups B and C. Driving alongside teammate John Snyder in the 2024 No. 246 Porsche 992 GT3 Cup, Boden ended his solid day third in the overall Group C running order.
Another Porsche stable, AJR Heritage Motorsports, shares a similar opportunity in Group B, with Damon DeSantis aboard the 1974 No. 82 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR and Ricky Park piloting the No. 44 1973 Porsche 911 RSR. Both drivers ran among the top three throughout the opening round and enter Sunday’s final second and third in class, respectively, and well within reach of the outright Group B victory.
Run Group A’s Todd Treffert set the pace from the outset in his red 1972 No. 14 Porsche 911 S/T fielded by 901 Shop. Starting from class pole in the first segment, Treffert controlled the group throughout the run and straight into a competitive second round to finish Saturday atop Group A.
Treffert’s 901 Shop stablemate, David Agretelis, delivered a similarly strong performance in the 1972 No. 66 Porsche 911 S/T. Starting second in class in the first round, Agretelis backed up his opening result with another solid run in race two to hold a close second in Group A entering Sunday’s final.
Meanwhile, the dynamic duo of Mitch Eitel and Mark Hamilton Peters rebounded in the second round after losing a lap in the opener. Their recovery in the 1970 No. 49 Chevron B16 brought them back into contention for the Group A victory, with the pair holding third place at the conclusion of Saturday’s action.
This weekend’s battle between brothers Andrew Myers and Ben Myers continued across the first two races of the HSR Classic 10 in Group C following their showdown in Friday’s Mission GT Challenge presented by Pirelli race. Ben Myers, who was involved in an incident on the final lap of Friday’s enduro, turned that misfortune into a strong class-leading start in the first race aboard his 901 Shop 2017 No. 29 Porsche 991.2 GT3 Cup.
Andrew Myers, however, got the upper hand in the second segment, powering to the front of the field to take control of the overall Group C standings in his 2018 No. 51 Porsche 991.2 GT3 Cup as the Myers brothers prepare to duke it out for Sunday’s victory.
A Cadillac showdown is set for Sunday in Group D, with Pierce Marshall and Eric Foss leading the all-prototype field in both opening races aboard their Matador Motorsports 2017 No. 01 Cadillac Dallara DPi. The pair enters Sunday in Group D looking to repeat as winners of the Classic 10 Hour after taking the inaugural victory in 2025. Juan Gonzalez and his nephew Roberto Gonzalez joined upcoming IMSA Hall of Famer Butch Leitzinger, battled back up the order in their No. 81 Mission Foods 2017 Cadillac DPi following an early pit stop in second segment.
Combined with a strong first race performance, the trio enters Sunday second in Group D, while John Reisman and Guy Cosmo round out the top three in their Hudson Historics-entered No. 74 2020 Ligier JS P320.
The HSR Classic 10 Hour presented by Mission Foods resumes competition Sunday, September 20, for the weekend’s final winner-crowning races, beginning at 1:15 p.m. EDT.
