Since the dawn of organized motorsport, Monaco has been synonymous with the finest automobiles, yet remarkably few have ever been built within its borders. In 1985, former Formula 2 and CART driver Fulvio Maria Ballabio set out to change that by assembling an extraordinary roster of Italian motorsport talent and earning the support of Prince Albert II. When the MCA Centenaire was unveiled in May 1990, it made history twice over: it was the world's first road-going car with a carbon fibre monocoque chassis and the first supercar ever built in Monaco.
The first of five examples produced, this 1990 MCA Centenaire stands apart as the sole example originally finished in Ivory White, paired with a stunning red leather interior in a fitting tribute to the Principality of Monaco. Powered by a potent 5.2-liter V12 sourced from the Lamborghini Countach 5000QV, the Centenaire was so treasured by Automobili Lamborghini that the factory retained it for nearly a decade before entering the care of a private individual. The Centenaire later emerged, displayed publicly alongside the Lamborghini Pregunta concept at Rétromobile in 2007.
