Coloni GP2 Preview

Former F 1 stars took a ride in the GP2 Series car in Magny-Cours, opening officially the second part of the GP2 season: Damon Hill, Patrick Tambay, Jacques Laffite and Adrian Campos have been driving  the Dallara-Renault test car in the French circuit, welcoming the drivers of the future. Damon Hill was particularly impressed by the car performances. The 1996 Formula One World Champion told: “It really is a very good car:

It’s exactly what any young driver needs to prepare him for Formula One”.

Coloni Motorsport is ready for the season re-start thanks to a successful two days testing session in Paul Ricard: the Italian team completed the scheduled mechanical and aerodynamic development programme with both drivers. The track engineers Paul Crosby and Peter Berry together with Sergio Rinland (former Arrows F1 Technical Director) collected many information and tested successfully the new cooling system introduced by GP2 Series Organisers which is constituted by a new intercooler, a larger water radiator and a newly designed cooling circuit.

The 24-years old Austrian driver Mathias Lauda, the son of the three times Formula One World Champion Niki Lauda, aims to score points in Magny-Cours and to battle for the front position: Coloni Motorsport is really confident and trusts in the Lauda’s talent and will give to him the best support.

Gimmi Bruni is determined to improve his championship position and, after claiming the victory at Barcelona circuit early in April, is  focusing on the battle for a prestigious result in order to take the Championship lead from rookie Heikki Kovalainen.
