19 Porsche entries head to China GT season finale

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific is set for another action-packed weekend as 19 cars travel to Sepang International Circuit for Round 5 of the 2026 China GT season, with the marque aiming for titles across all three categories. Meanwhile in Japan, seven x seven Racing looks to conclude its Super GT campaign on a high in a double-header at Mobility Resort Motegi.

China GT

After two trips to Shanghai as well as visits to both Ningbo and Zhuhai, China GT now heads to Sepang for the 2026 finale, marking the second time in the championship’s history that it has competed overseas on the international stage.

Porsche has taken four overall victories during this year, along with multiple successes across all three classes, as the marque looks to secure trophies in Malaysia.

GT3 category

A season-high 10 Porsche 911 GT3 R will contest the round at Sepang International Circuit, with three events being held for the GT3 class.

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Selected Driver Enzo Trulli once again steps into the #66 Phantom Global Racing entry alongside Chris Chia. The pair has scored two overall podiums and currently sits third in the Pro-Am drivers’ standings heading into the weekend. The outfit also continues with Li Ning and Loek Hartog in the #79 car.

Yuan Bo returns after missing the event in Shanghai, with the Winhere Origine Motorsport driver in a strong position to take the overall drivers’ crown. He’ll be joined once again by Leo Ye, with the duo having taken victory together three times so far this campaign. Gu Meng and Xie Xinzhe pilot the second Origine Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R, after scoring Pro-Am top five finishes in each race weekend they’ve competed at during 2026.

610 Racing sends two cars to this weekend’s action, as Yang Haojie and Luo Kailuo aim to maintain their record of finishing inside the Pro-Am top-10 during every race this year. The squad also names Hu Bo and Cao Qikuan in the Am-class, who will be looking to bounce back from a difficult event in Shanghai last time out in the #16 car.

Min Heng will partner up with Intercontinental GT Challenge Independent Cup champion Li Kerong, driving the #22 Absolute Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R in the Am-class.

Additionally, making a seasonal debut in Sepang, is Delta Garage Racing, which sends three Porsche 911 GT3 R into action. Dypo Fitramadhan and Adam Putera pilot the squad’s #17 machine, while Umar Basalamah teams up with Milos Pavlovic in the #86 entry. Putra Resky Bustaman steps into the #969 car, with his teammate being announced in due course.

Enzo Trulli, Phantom Global Racing: “The final round of the China GT season is upon us and I’m looking forward to racing in Sepang. We’re mathematically still in contention for the overall title but we know it will be difficult. However, we’ve got three races across the weekend, so we won’t give up. Consistency is going to be important throughout the event as we look to score as many points as possible and we’ll see where we end up.”

GTS category

In the GTS category, three Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport take on the finale, with two entries from Origin7 Racing.

Lenny Tian Weiyuan is once again joined by Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia racer Naquib Azlan, who tackles his home event. Weiyuan has enjoyed a successful season to date in the #977 car, currently sitting top of the GTS Pro-Am standings with a 29-point advantage heading into the last two races. The Chinese driver is also in contention for the overall GTS crown as he aims for glory in Malaysia.

After wrapping up two Am-class podiums last time out in Shanghai, Tang Yile and Jiang Tengyi return in the outfit’s #621 entry for this weekend’s action.

Xu Xin and Elias Seppänen will pilot the #611Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport for Climax Racing, as they compete in the Pro-Am class.

GTC category

Six Porsche 911 GT3 Cup travel to Sepang to contest the fifth round of the campaign, with four from 610 Racing as well as seasonal class debuts by Climax Racing and Origin7 Racing.

Tian Xu and He Xiaole enjoyed a successful outing in Shanghai back in September, securing a trio of second-place 992 Pro-Am finishes, and once again step into the #77 car for this round.

In the 992 Am category, Yan Chuang holds a strong advantage at the top of the standings after winning all three races in Shanghai. He solo pilots the #27 entry, with his teammate from last time out Roy Tang lining up in the #53 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Taichi Watarai and Sven Müller continue in the #666 Porsche 911 GT3 R and will be looking to bounce back after the latest round at Autopolis. The squad and Müller currently sit ninth in the Teams’ and Drivers’ Championship respectively, with a large haul of points available across the two races, allowing for plenty of opportunities to move up the standings.

seven x seven Racing enjoyed its maiden visit to Motegi in the championship during the 2025 edition, finishing third and earning another Super GT podium.

On-track action gets underway on Friday with Practice at 09:30 local time (UTC+9). Qualifying kicks off Saturday’s running from 09:00, before the opener begins at 14:00. Sunday’s qualifying session starts at the slightly later time of 09:45, with lights out for the final round of the 2026 campaign at 14:00.

Sven Müller, seven x seven Racing: “I’m looking forward to taking on the Motegi double-header! We’ll be aiming to bounce back after a difficult event last time out at Autopolis and I have full confidence in the team we can achieve a great result. With two races this weekend, there are a lot of points up for grabs and we can further improve our championship position. Motegi should be a track which suits our car well as the squad picked up a podium there last year. We’ve got nothing to lose heading into the final rounds of the campaign and will give it our all.”

Alexandre Gibot, Managing Director Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Ltd.: “We’re pleased to have such a great turnout for the China GT season finale this weekend, with 19 Porsche entries heading to Sepang. It’s only the second-ever overseas visit for the championship and it will certainly be an action-packed one with five races across the event, including three in the GT3 category. Coming into the last round, we’re leading both the GT3 and GTC standings and in GTS we have a chance to fight for the title, so we’ll be looking to convert these advantages into trophies. Meanwhile in Japan, seven x seven Racing will be aiming to finish the 2026 Super GT campaign on a high at the Motegi double-header. Overall, it is set to be a busy few days supporting our customers across two international venues and we’re looking forward to seeing what we can achieve.”
