Jon Ingram Tempest Rally Review
INGRAM HAPPY WITH MOVE SOUTHFollowing his last minute change of plan, Jon Ingram feels he made the correct decision to contest the final round of the British Rally Championship, the Tempest Rally instead of the final round of the British Trial and Rally Drivers Association series, the Cambrian Rally. The Altrincham rally driver making the journey down to the South of England based rally and started steady over the Friday night time stages, reporting no problems apart from stalling the car on a hairpin in stage two. Ingram ending the evening in fifth place in his Ford Focus World Rally Car with Ian Allsop sat alongside conducting co-driving duties. Saturday had Ingram and Allsop making a move up the leader board, setting two fastest times over the stages and placing them into second place after completing stage thirteen. Just over nine seconds separated the top two and Ingram confident he could reduce the deficit over the three remaining stages. However, at the end of stage fourteen Ingram collected a puncture on his Focus WR car, with no alternative but to change it on the road section to the next stage. The time delay meant the rally pairing incurred a twenty second time penalty which ended any chance of victory and demoted the pair into third place through to the end of the rally.Despite the penalty, Ingram was happy with the result and the rally in general."We are very pleased to be at the finish of a rally, having suffered a string of retirements, its a good feeling to finish and with a podium placing. The rally has been awesome. While I believe Wales to be the place to go rallying, this rally has completely different stages and requires commitment and is a true test with some big third gear power slide corners and should have been quite entertaining for the spectators outside as it was for us inside the car. I have really enjoyed the weekend."Jon and Ian will now head to the Lake District and the Grizedale Stages Rally on Saturday 3rd December and will be hoping for another good result there to end the year on a high.
