Lixxus sponsor GP Masters car

While the rest of the Broadband world attempts to out-speed each other, Lixxus  are flagging up the approach of their 8Mb broadband service with a real test of speed. Lixxus unveiled their latest high-speed offering last week at Silverstone with the sponsorship of a 600 brake horse power racing car for the up and coming Altech Grand Prix Masters race in South Africa, the inaugural event for the 2006 series which takes place in Kyalami on 11th – 13th November.

Some of the greatest and most legendary names in world motorsport are preparing to be reunited in a ‘world-first’ Grand Prix Masters Series on the circuit Grand Prix racing last visited back in 1993. And it’s not only the drivers who can be attributed with this Legendry Status, Murray Walker has come out of retirement to commentate on the Grand Prix masters event.

The Lixxus car, driven by UK racing legend Derek Warwick, showed its pace at testing on the Silverstone circuit for the first time on Wednesday and Thursday, 26th-27th October.

The Grand Prix Masters international cast of champions and characters boast a treasure trove of history between them and include Nigel Mansell (UK) Emerson Fittipaldi (Brazil), Alain Prost (France), Ricardo Patrese (Italy), Alan Jones (Australia), Stefan Johansson (Sweden), Andrea de Cesaris (Italy), René Arnoux (France), Jan Lammers (Netherlands) and Christian Danner (Germany) to name but a few with other names due to be announced shortly.

Awaiting the arrival of the protagonists will be 600 brake horse power machines capable of exceeding over 200mph!

Lixxus are official suppliers to the Grand Prix Masters team, supplying both Internet connectivity and telephony, using Lixxus’ innovative ADSL and Voice over IP technology to assist in communications between the multitude of suppliers, technologists and engineers working on the project.

Lixxus will be airing footage of the build up, testing, interviews and qualifying culminating in the inaugural race on 13th November to anyone with a broadband connection.

The first tests have been successfully concluded recently with Nigel Mansell, Rene Arnoux and Derek Warwick putting in some quick laps.

Lixxus are also launching a new Voice service to compliment their Broadband portfolio. The service promises to be one of the few end to end Voice over IP solutions available in the UK, offering a free broadband connection and voice router to customers moving to the LixxTalk service. The system works with a standard telephone and is very simple to install.
