BBC TopGear Magazine & Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd. keeping up to its task of promoting motor sports in India have gone a step ahead and added one more major event in the calendar of motor sports- the National Enduro Event for 2 wheelers. The first day of the event took place on the 16th December 2005.
‘Enduro’ is a sporting event staged over varied terrain and is designed to prove the endurance of the riders, and the resistance of their machines. The event will take place over two days. The route was divided into stages that complies one or several tests and will cover the areas around the Jodhpur Fort, Umaid Bhavan Palace and the sand dunes around Jodhpur.
The event was organized by The Federation of Motor Sport Clubs of India and Sportscraft under the International Sporting code and Enduro Regulations of Federation Internationale de Motorcycleisme (FIM), NCR of the FMSCI and the Supplementary Regulations.
The 2nd day’s event took off at the sand dunes just outside Jodhpur. Today was an exciting day and difficult day for the riders as the terrain was not a easy one. The participants from Jaipur, Jodhpur, Sri Lanka, Bangalore, and Nasik were in a challenging and competitive mood.
Kunal Singh, two time national motor cross championship winner said, “Enduro is an exciting event wherein there is different terrain to tackle and the Mehrangarh fort is an interesting ground to ride on. The event needs a lot of skill”.
