COMPLETES SEASON
THE final Motorsport fixture of 2007 takes place next month (December), with the Rockingham Stages Rally completing the racing calendar at the Northamptonshire circuit.Now in its fourth year, the Rockingham Stages has already attracted more than 100 competitors for this year’s event, which is being held over the weekend of December 8 and 9.
Joint organisers Thame Motorsport Club and Middlesex County Automobile Club will be building on their previous successes and are planning to utilise the whole circuit with 10 stages over the two days.
Each stage is between eight and 11 miles long, and includes a combination of the perimeter tracks, in-field circuits and portions of the banked oval as well as the inner paddock and access tunnels.
The action starts on Saturday afternoon with four stages, including two in the dark, with a further six taking place on the Sunday, providing more than 85 miles of competitive motoring.
A whole host of machines will be taking part, from the sideways MK II Ford Escorts to the amazing Hyundai and Subaru Impreza WRC cars and the awesome Metro 6R4.
Rockingham Director of Sales & Marketing Charlotte Orton, said: “We have enjoyed some fantastic motor racing action at the circuit this season, and the Rockingham Stages is a fitting finale to our year.
“We’re really looking forward to hosting this event and proud to continue to support rallying. Over the past four years the Rockingham Stages has become a popular fixture on the calendar.”
Peter Wood of Thame Motorsport Club, who is the Rally Manager for the event, said: “We are very pleased to be back at this excellent venue for the fourth year.
“The facilities are first class and the combination of brilliant road surface, time of year, and stages in the dark add to the unique atmosphere at Rockingham.”
The entertaining Land Rover Rally also returns to the Rockingham Stages after a successful debut at last year’s event.
