Pritchards on Home Soil for Finale
While the 2007 World Rally Championship will be decided between the Ford of Marcus Gronholm and the Citroën of defending World Champion Sebastian Loeb, another championship will also reach its finale on Wales Rally of Great Britain with another Citroën driver also pushing hard to claim the laurels. Jason Pritchard has dominated the C2R2 Cup 2007 championship, a one make series based on the Citroën C2, having taken the series lead on the opening round and has maintained the lead going into the final round of the championship on what will be the toughest test of the year. The Builth Wells driver, along with his Brecon co-driver Martin Jones, will embark on their most challenging rally to date, with Pritchard in his first full season of rallying at the wheel of his Quick Motorsport prepared FCS Lasermail/North Road Garage Citroën C2, every rally having brought a new challenge and helped 19yr old grow in confidence and speed."We have had a mixed season with an opening round win, have suffered mechanical problems and now look forward to our most challenging test to date. My pace has increased through the year and I have gained a lot of experience along the way and we are really looking forward to the chance compete on our first World Championship event. This weekend will be our most testing, not just for Martin and myself but for the whole team and should make for a real showdown to the championship"The Wales Rally of Great Britain has a ceremonial start out of Cardiff on Thursday 29th November with the action getting under way in the forests of South Wales on Friday, moving into Mid Wales on Saturday and a visit to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff for a Super Special Stage and the final day on Sunday visiting the forest in West Wales. The 2007 MSA British Rally Academy member treats Wales Rally GB as his local round of the championship with the Saturday special timed stages within 20 miles of his home. Despite the close proximity to home, Pritchard knows this offers no advantage to his game plan."We need to treat the rally as an endurance event, as the competitive distance is totalling over 350 kilometres. The event is a double point's score and we need the points for the championship and have to preserve the car throughout."Jason and Martin are supported in their 2007 campaign by FCS Lasermail and North Road Garage, Builth Wells.
