THE OFFICIAL 2007 FORMULA ONE SEASON REVIEW ON DVD ON SALE 10 DECEMBER 2007
‘This year’s must-buy Christmas DVD gift’ ‘Re-live the first three-way title showdown in over two decades!” Wednesday 28 November 2007 (LONDON): What a season! Records tumbled, new boys rocked the establishment and a 22-year old British rookie wrote his name into the history books by almost becoming the first ever driver to win the FORMULA ONE Drivers’ World Championship in his debut season! With over ten million British viewers glued to their TV sets for the final showdown in Brazil, and UK viewing figures over the season dramatically up from 2006, this was without question one of the most epic FORMULA ONE seasons in living memory!
The OFFICIAL 2007 FORMULA ONE SEASON REVIEW DVD chronicles one of the most remarkable and memorable seasons ever in FORMULA ONE history. Britain’s Lewis Hamilton re-wrote the record books, his team-mate Fernando Alonso held onto the world championship crown until the bitter end, but against all odds, it was FERRARI’s Kimi Räikkönen who stole the show and walked away with the prized crown of World Champion.
As well as being one of the most closely fought FORMULA ONE battles ever, the 2007 season was also full of intense drama and twists off the track. RED BULL RACING had a remarkable resurgence as both of their teams contested and scored some spectacular points In only their first year as a Constructor, BMW’s campaign began low-key but ended up with them second only to FERRARI in the Constructors’ Championship Finnish new boy Heikki Kovalainen did a magnificent job to get on the podium in Japan in his first season
To the disbelief of all watching, Robert Kubica walked away unhurt from his 160 mph crash at the FORMULA 1 Canadian Grand Prix – a true testament to the strength of the modern day FORMULA ONE car If all of that wasn’t enough, Lewis also escaped a very heavy impact during Qualifying at the FORMULA 1 Grand Prix of Europe.
He then had to dig deep to come to terms with what he calls “the hard hit” of knowing that he could have actually won the FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP at the penultimate race in Shanghai had he not slid off into the pit lane gravel trap after suffering a loss of grip from worn tyres! But Britain’s Lewis put all this into context, acknowledged the setbacks and prepared for the ultimate test for a young man in his first season, a three-way drive-off at the last race in Brazil (Interlagos) against team rival Fernando Alonso and the ‘Iceman,’ Kimi Räikkönen of FERRARI.
After setting a blistering qualifying time which put his MCLAREN-MERCEDES on the front row alongside home favourite Felipe Massa (FERRARI), Lewis made a typically no-holds barred start to what was a dramatic FORMULA ONE race.
Lady luck, however, went against Lewis on this occasion. A technical problem meant that he could only manage 7th place in a race dominated and controlled by the two FERRARIs. Brazilian Massa did a magnificent job but as he has done so many times this season, team-mate Räikkönen delivered a faultless charge to cross the finishing line in 1st place and crowning himself 2007 FIA FORMULA ONE DRIVERS’ WORLD CHAMPION.
