Russia takes top FM spot

Vallelunga hosted the first of Formula Master’s official two-day winter test in Italy yesterday with Sergey Afanasiev claiming the fastest time of 1:28.913 for J.D. Motorsport.

The Formula 3 Euroseries driver proved his pace at Valencia last month was no fluke by setting the best time of the day, closely followed by Euronova Racing’s Daniel Mancinelli and Promotorsport’s Fabio Onidi.

Driver evaluation was once again the focus with ten new drivers taking part in addition to 2007 regulars such as Arturo Llobell (Cram Competition), Norbert Siedler (ADM Motorsport) and Alberto Costa (Promotorsport).

Bulgaria’s Vladimir Arabadzhiev and Hamed Al Fardan, from Bahrain, were amongst those testing the Formula Master car for the first time today, along with Italians Daniel Zampieri and Fabrizio Crestani, whilst Tomas Pivoda became the youngest racer to drive the car at just 16 years old.

Testing will resume today in Vallelunga with a further two days taking place on 18 and 19 December 2007.
