Noted Motorsports Artist Paul Holroyd Offers No. 31 Ferrari F430 GT Print to Public
Noted motorsports artist Paul Holroyd (Batley, England) has again brought his impressive skills to replicate a Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing entry on canvas. In celebration of the Michael Petersen (Las Vegas) owned and Dale White (Bozeman, MT) managed team's move to the Ferrari F430 GT at the start of the 2007 American Le Mans Series season, Holroyd painted "Change of Horses". A limited number of 150 prints are currently available to the public directly from Holroyd at PorscheSport.com for $100 including shipping.
"Change of Horses" is a detailed, rear-view depiction of the No. 31 MMPIE/PAWS/Petersen Holdings/Michelin Ferrari F430 GT lapping a fellow GT2 competitor at this year's 55th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. Sebring was the first event for the Las Vegas-based team to enter the No. 31 Ferrari F430 GT in American Le Mans Series competition. The 2005 and 2006 GT2 Driver Championship-winning team would go on to win one race in Salt Lake City and take a podium finish in Detroit with the car. The familiar white and neon yellow V8 Ferrari with the red lightning bolt emblazoned down the side captured six fastest race laps and three pole positions in its first year with the storied marquee.
"Change of Horses" is the third, publicly available painting of a Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing entry created in oils by Holroyd. The first painting, "Lightning Strikes Twice" was presented to White at Le Mans in June, 2005 to commemorate the team's second victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2004. "Lightning Strikes Twice" is still available in extremely limited amounts from Holroyd's web site.
The second print, "Team Work", depicts the 2005 GT2 class Driver, Team and IMSA Cup Championship- winning entry in profile. "Team Work" was made available to the general public in 2005 with all the profits generated from its sale designated to go the Salvation Army Grid Kids. The effort was highly successful in raising funds for the Salvation Army, official charity of the Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing and the American Le Mans Series. A limited number of "Team Work" prints remain available for purchase either directly from Holroyd at www.PorscheSport.com or through American Le Mans Series Merchandising (www.AmericanLeMans.com). All profits from "Team Work" will continue to go to the Salvation Army until the print is sold-out.
"Change of Horses" is Holroyd first ever non-Porsche Limited Edition print. It measures 838mm x 483mm and is printed on fine art paper. Each of the 150 prints is signed and numbered by the artist.
Holroyd was born in Morley, Leeds (England) and moved to the neighboring town Batley in his late 20's. He lives there today with his second wife Bev and son Luke. Despite realizing his love of art at an early age he left the craft following school. Holroyd returned to painting in 2003 with the encouragement of his wife. Fusing his love of painting and motorsports, Holroyd's style and work ethic have become popular among the world's top motorsports teams. Beyond his works that are for sale he has been commissioned to create paintings for Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing, P.K. Sport, Seikel Motorsports and driver Patrick Long among others.
QuotesDale White, Team Manager/Entrant: "It is a true honor to, again, be selected by Paul to have a painting done of our Ferrari. 2007 was a major year for Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing and to have that first event reproduced in a painting brings a great deal of pride. I know, one day, when I sit back and look at the print on my office wall, I won't think about the struggles we had later in the '07 season but instead the successes we enjoyed with Ferrari for years to follow."
Paul Holroyd, Artist: "I always enjoy painting the cars of the Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing; the color scheme and lightning bolts are a joy to paint. When Mike designed the graphics he got them spot-on and the team colors are recognized the world over. I have had the honor of meeting the team a couple of times and I believe that they are world class when it comes to commitment and teamwork. Painting the Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing cars has become somewhat of a tradition for me now, so you can expect to see many more works of the team in years to come. Watch this space!"
