The Masters Racing Series has announced details of its 2008 calendar, which covers 22 race meetings across 15 European venues.
The schedule includes visits to Spa-Francorchamps, the Nurburgring, Magny-Cours and Angouleme, as well as major British historic racing festivals at Donington Park, Brands Hatch and Silverstone.
Twelve race categories now come under the Masters umbrella, and each of them has a calendar of races in Britain and in mainland Europe. In total, more than 100 races will be run, some of them as double-headers and some as longer two-driver races.
Four dedicated Masters Festivals will be held, where all races over the weekend will be for Masters categories, including Grand Prix Masters, World Sportscar Masters, the new Proto 70s Masters, Sports Racing Masters and Gentleman Drivers. The dates for the four Festivals are: Brands Hatch GP circuit (25/26 May), Anderstorp, Sweden (6-8 June), Magny Cours, France (30/31 August) and a late October/early November date at a Southern European circuit.
Other highlights on the schedule include the Ferrari Historic Festival at Mugello, Italy (4-6 April), the Grande Passione at Donington Park with HGPCA (19/20 April), the Silverstone Classic (25-27 July) and the Spa Classic Six-Hours (26-28 September).
In addition to the high-profile UK and European events, competitors in the Masters series will also have the chance to compete in a number of one-day events in Britain, where the focus will be racing for classes like the Top Hat Saloons, Cloth Cap Sports Cars, Oldies but Goldies and Stars of the 70s. These dates include Snetterton (29 March), Donington Park (5 May), Brands Hatch (24 May) and Mallory Park (26 October).
"We are pleased to unveil our 2008 calendar," said Christopher Tate of the Masters Racing Series. "We feel that our schedule offers events and venues to suit all tastes and we are looking forward to some great competition in 2008."
