Autosport International, Europe’s largest motorsport show, will provide the launch pad for an exciting new team, CR Scuderia, which is hoping to be a title-challenging force in the world of endurance racing in 2008.
CR Scuderia will contest in the FIA GT and British GT Championships with Ferrari 430 GTs as well as running a team in the UK Formula Renault Championship.
The team will be giving away 500 t-shirts each day of the show and will have two launches, one on Thursday to the trade and one on Saturday to the general public, where it will present its new livery for the first time.
Andrew KirkaldyAlready announced for the FIA GT Championship are drivers Andrew Kirkaldy, the 2007 Le Mans Series GT2 Champion Rob Bell, Tim Mullen and team principal Chris Niarchos whilst the team is hoping to make further announcements at the show regarding its two other racing programmes.
“From a commercial aspect, launching at the show works for us,” said Team Director Andrew Kirkaldy. “It is the biggest motorsport show around, and launching there demonstrates that we are a serious team, not just here for a year or two but with a long-term future.”
Having played an instrumental role in setting up the team, Kirkaldy will return to the cockpit alongside Bell while Niarchos, who drove alongside former Formula One World Champion Nigel Mansell at Silverstone in May, will share the second Ferrari with Mullen.
“This is an exciting new team and we wish them every success for the future,” commented Haymarket Exhibition’s Event Presenter Ian France. “They are out to make a big impression on the international world of motorsport and made a great decision in choosing to unveil their cars at the show. Luckily, the halls here are spacious enough to accommodate their needs!”
