To The Big Brother House
Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack contestant Jeremy Metcalfe waved farewell to the world famous reality TV show last night, Monday, 28th January, after being voted into fifth position during the grand finale which was broadcast live to the nation on E4.The 19-year-old racing driver, who hails from Fleet in Hampshire, avoided eviction on several occasions throughout the series and firmly established himself as one of the most popular characters on the show. Tantalisingly close to winning the £50,000 prize, Jeremy can be justifiably proud of remaining in the house for the full 26 day duration. One of a dozen talented youngsters hand-picked for the inaugural Celebrity Hijack version of the Big Brother format, Jeremy has had his every move in the most famous house on British television broadcast to millions of viewers on TV channel E4 and over the Internet at channel4.com/bigbrother since he entered on Thursday, 3rd January.During his time in the house Jeremy showed incredible character, especially when bizarrely nominated for eviction during the opening week, and also when he came in for relentless attacks from one or two of the Celebrity Hijackers – in particular TV presenter and comedian Russell Brand and Radio 1 disc jockey Chris Moyles.Throughout the last month, the talented British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) ‘Rising Star’ has retained his fantastic dry sense of humour and dealt with everything with great aplomb. He’s also proven, whether on the race track or in everyday life, he is not a quitter and provided some of the most memorable moments of the series.Reflecting on his time in the Big Brother house, Jeremy commented: “Being on the show has been the most incredible experience, it’s something I never really thought I would do but when the opportunity presented itself I knew I wanted to give it a shot.“I’m very grateful to the production team at Endemol and Channel 4 for selecting me to be on the first ever Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack series. It’s a fantastic format and I feel very privileged to have taken part. It was great fun living with so many other focused and ambitious young people and the celebrity hijackers gave the show an amazing twist.”He added: “I struggled to understand why I came in for a bashing from some of the hijackers but that’s all part of the show. Hopefully I’ll get the opportunity to take them out on a race track for a few hot laps one day in the not-too-distant future and show them being a successful racing driver requires a lot of ability and talent. The invitation’s there!“I really want to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my time in the house, I’m very grateful. I also want to take the opportunity to wish all of the housemates well in their future endeavours and hopefully we’ll all establish and enjoy long, successful careers in our own respective fields.”
