Bateman returns to Carrera Cup GB
Charles Bateman will return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB in 2008 and is targeting race wins after signing to stay with Team Parker Racing, backed by Pilgrim Food Service."I want to have a serious shot at the overall title and certainly score some race wins," said Bateman, who celebrated his 21st birthday on New Year's Day."I improved a lot through last year and we showed our pace, particularly at Knockhill. Now I want to step up a gear again," said the Boston-based racer, who will move up to the pro category after racing in the pro-am category in 2007.Bateman started racing in the Caterham Academy in 2004 and then finished tenth in the 2005 Caterham Roadsports Championship, with assistance from Team Parker Racing. He joined the team full time in 2006 to finish fourth in the UK Superlight Championship and sixth in the Caterham Eurocup. He stayed with Team Parker Racing for his debut Carrera Cup season last year and has now signed for a full Carrera Cup campaign with TPR in 2008. "It's the best team in the paddock," said Bateman. Team boss Stuart Parker is delighted to have retained Bateman as part of a very strong Carrera Cup team. "It continues our relationship with him into a fourth season. He's a young driver developing well and this year he'll reap the benefit of his learning year in 2007. He's only going to get better."Bateman and Team Parker Racing will start their programme in the opening Carrera Cup GB races at Brands Hatch on 29/30 March
