Speedmaster International is extending its partnership with the Masters Racing Series by supporting the Gentleman Drivers GT and Sports Endurance Series as well as Grand Prix Masters.
The Bradford-based company has an enviable reputation in the sale of rare high-performance road cars and classic competition cars, including F1 cars of the Grand Prix Masters era.
Having raced ‘moderns’ extensively in the recent past, for BMW and Volvo in the European Touring Car Championship, Speedmaster’s MD James Hanson is now an active racer in Grand Prix Masters and was an F1 race winner in 2007. He has exciting plans for 2008, and is also keen to try his hand in some Gentleman Drivers GT races.
"We've supported Grand Prix Masters for several seasons and because this has worked so well, we're now expanding into Gentleman Drivers," said Hanson, who can trace his passion for classic cars back to his grandfather Jack, who hillclimbed Bugattis in the 1930s. "We want to grow the sports and GT side of our business and this is a good way of reaching out into that market. I'd love the chance to compete in some Gentleman Drivers races."
The new association will also be a platform to promote the stunning new Speedmaster Conference Centre, opening shortly at Albion Mills, Bradford, and offering exceptional facilities built to accommodate a wide range of conferences, business and social events.
In this new facility, the main Goodwood suite can accommodate over 75 people, while the Brooklands and Silverstone suites can each hold over 30 people. All three rooms can be combined to accommodate over 150 people and each suite has been equipped to the highest possible standard, offering delegates the latest technology.
"The Conference Centre will have a strong motor sport theme and a special gallery is dedicated to Great British racing drivers from Richard Seaman to Lewis Hamilton," said Hanson.
"We are delighted that Speedmaster has agreed to expand its involvement with Masters to include a co-sponsorship of the Gentlemen Drivers alongside their existing GPM support," said Christopher Tate of the Masters Racing Series. “Gentleman Drivers enjoys close racing at the best circuits, and a very special atmosphere of its own. Thanks to Speedmaster, now we have even more reasons to look forward to an exciting 2008”
