More than fifty glorious years of motor sport were honoured on Tuesday 4 March 2008, when Peter Cooper was presented with the Motor Sports Association's Lifetime Achievement award at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall, London. Mr Cooper received his award from Alan Gow, Chairman of the Motor Sports Association.

Peter Cooper was Chief Executive of the Motor Sports Association from 1982 to 1987 and a long term member of the Motor Sports Council including a spell as chairman from 1982 to 1985. Further highlights of his achievements include 2nd place in the RAC Rally in 1954, Chairman of Kart Committee, a Steward of vast worldwide experience, FIA World Council member for many years and FIA Vice President d'honneur.

In addition, Peter is still reminded that he overturned a Ford Popular at an Autotest meeting in Taunton in 1956!

Perhaps his greatest achievement, however, is that he remains known, well liked and greatly admired throughout motor sport by all those who have come into contact with him, right through from Club and National to International and World levels."

"It is an unexpected honour to receive this award and after 57 fruitful years, it is lovely to be honoured in front of all my friends and former colleagues. When I look back, I can say with confidence that if I'd spent half as much time on my business as I did on motor sport, I would have been a lot richer...but a lot less happy."
