British Grand Prix close to sell out

Silverstone gives green light to build additional grandstand seating

Fan focus switches to Saturday qualifying Silverstone

Circuits  Limited  has  today  announced  that  it  will  be  building  an  additional  2,200 grandstand seats in response to the overwhelming demand for tickets to this year’s FORMULA 1 SANTANDER BRITISH GRAND PRIX, taking place at Silverstone on 4-6 July. The British Grand Prix is back on the map as one of the most glamorous sporting events of the summer and, after record levels of interest, tickets for race day on 6 July are close to selling out.

Lewis Hamilton celebrates after claiming Pole Position at the 2007 FORMULA 1 SANTADER BRITISH GRAND PRIX With only a limited number of terrace and grandstand tickets remaining on sale for the Sunday, fans are now making the most of single day tickets for both the Friday (available from £49) and Saturday (available from £69) – a new ticket option for 2008 that is back by popular demand. Individual  day  tickets  for  the  Saturday,  featuring  the  thrilling  new  qualifying  format,  have  been particularly popular with fans – especially after the gripping scenes and exhilarating atmosphere that surrounded Lewis Hamilton’s dramatic drive to claim pole position in 2007. In addition to building 2,200 new grandstand seats for race day, Silverstone has also responded to the high levels of demand by introducing an Saturday only ticket that includes roving access to grandstands  for  £89.

The  circuit  has  also  released  more  three-day  Bronze  Terrace  tickets, available from as little as £165, which offer great views close to the circuit. Richard  Phillips,  Managing  Director  of Silverstone Circuits Limited, commented,

“Interest in this year’s British Grand Prix has been overwhelming and we are having to build additional grandstand seating to accommodate the high levels of demand. Race day tickets are almost sold out, so fans are now switching to single-day tickets, in prime viewing locations, for Friday and Saturday. Last year’s qualifying was one of the highlights of the weekend and, available from £69, Saturday-only tickets provide an unforgettable taste of the drama and excitement that Formula One has to offer.”
