FAST LAP FOR PICCIONE

TP Formula gains important points in debut race of the Euroseries 3000 2009 season in Portimao with Fabrizio Crestani on the podium and Clivio Piccione author of the fastest lap, recorded at the very end after having repeatedly stolen the primacy from Pastor Maldonado.

The Italian driver started from the fifth position on the grid after having experienced some difficulties in qualifying due to different track conditions compared to the previous days. Making a  remarkable start, he immediately recovered positions, but a contact in the initial phases seriously compromised the aerodynamics of his car, which became even worst as debris  broke his front wing. Crestani still succeeded  in not only bringing the car to the finish line, but also to step on the podium in third position, and gaining precious points for the championship.

The initial incident also effected Piccione,  who restarted from  last position and  finished sixth .
