Rockinhgham showdown

AFTER four races each in the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series & the Avon Tyres British GT Championship the competitors head to Rockingham in two weeks with everything to play for.

Some of the world’s best young driving talents will go head-to-head at the Northamptonshire circuit on May 30/31 as the stars of the future from the British F3 compete to be the finest racing driver of their generation.

Australian Daniel Ricciardo leads the way with three race victories under his belt already in his Red Bull-backed Carlin Motorsport Dallara-Volkswagen, but plenty are lining up to rein in his advantage, not least his British team-mates Max Chilton, Oliver Oakes and Henry Arundel.

The British GT Championship will also provide some thrilling action with glamorous supercars racing bumper-to-bumper at breathtaking speeds.

No fewer than eight drivers are separated by a single point at the top of the championship table and with three different victors in the opening four rounds it’s certainly shaping up to be an unpredictable season.

Young guns Daniel Brown and Stuart Hall won the opening two rounds in their Mosler but lost ground last time out, where the Viper of Aaron Scott and Craig Wilkins scored its maiden win of the season.

Tickets are currently on sale and spectators can save up to 20 per cent on adult admission prices by booking in advance from www.rockingham.co.uk/events. If you’re not online, they can also be booked by calling the ticket hotline on 01536 500500.

Advance prices are £20 for weekend passes, £16 for the Sunday race day or £10 for the qualifying rounds on Saturday. Adult tickets will be available on the gate priced £25, £20 and £12 respectively.

Children 15 and under get in free while fans who attended the last Rockingham meeting can get in for just £15 on race day (Sunday) with their Britcar ticket.

Fans will have the opportunity to get close to the action as general admission includes access to an open paddock and a FREE grandstand seat.

The entertainment won’t be confined to the track and there will be plenty for all the family to enjoy, including face painters, temporary tattooist, Rockingham simulators trade stands and autograph session.
