United We Stand - 50 at 50This weekend Silverstone is hosting a very special event that sees the official 50th birthday celebrations of the launch of the Mini in August 1959. MINI United is just that as the event is a coming together of new and old to celebrate this unique car. The whole of Silverstone has been transformed into a festival arena with live music, car demonstrations, Mini Club areas and, of course, some on track action courtesy of the Dunlop Mini Se7en and Mini Miglia Challenges.

The two races will be held on the full Grand Prix circuit, the first time the championships have raced on the configuration since 2005. The grid will also be a joint Miglia and Se7en lineup with a massive 46 car field ready to compete at the Home of British Motor Racing.

However 50 Minis will actually be lining up to take the start for the two races thanks to the unique partnership with Corgi. Four of the drivers whose cars have been immortalised by the model maker will each carry a copy of their car inside their racecar for the races and the models will then be sold to collectors after the event. Double Mini Miglia Champion Andy Hack, reigning Mini Se7en Champion Paul Thompson, race winner Endaf Owens and Brands Hatch lap record holder Colin Peacock will be the drivers doubling up. If you are interested in purchasing these unique models after the event please see a representative of the Mini 7 Racing Club in garage 11b or email jeff@mini7.co.uk

As well as the on track action the Mini 7 Racing Club area in the paddock will be a hive of activity. Visitors can take the Mini Miglia Challenge where you can see if you can beat the best time around the Silverstone GP circuit set by a leading Miglia driver on the game pod in garage 11. The game has a specially created Mini Miglia which is as true to life as the guys at Edgecombes could make it.

There will also be a chance for visitors to win £100 if they can guess the number of balloons that have been crammed, in true Mini style, into a Mini Cooper. As well as £100 there are plenty of other prizes to be won.

The Paddock also offers visitors to come and talk about the world's longest running single make championship and get a close look at the cars. Visitors can also join the Mini 7 Racing Supporters Club at MINI United for a very special show only price of £10.

Come and see the Mini 7 Racing Club in the Paddock, garages 9a to 12e, which are at the Copse Corner (first corner) end of the Silverstone pitlane
