WITH YOUNGEST EVER BRITISH DRIVER

Iconic British sports car manufacturer Ginetta will be making its debut at Le Mans this June, driven by in-house squad Team LNT. The previous Le Mans GT2 winners are hoping to repeat their 2006 success with a three strong team of driving talent including Team Principal Lawrence Tomlinson and Ginetta Managing Director Richard Dean. The pair will be joined by rising Ginetta star Nigel Moore to race the Ginetta-Zytek GZ09S LMP1.

At just 17, Moore will be the youngest British driver ever to take to the French track and youngest ever driver to compete at LMP1 level. The talented teenager will be making his debut in sports car racing’s premier class, just two years after winning the 2007 Ginetta Junior Championship.  And with the Ginetta-Zytek GZ09S LMP1 already having proved its mettle at the Spa-Francochamps round of the Le Mans Series earlier this year, the step up to sports car racings highest class is a logical move for the talented Yorkshire teenager.

Lawrence Tomlinson, Team Principal said: “I am delighted that Nigel is part of Team LNT 2009 – his story is a perfect example of how Ginetta supports young British driving talent by offering entry at grass roots right through to top level racing. I hope people will follow his story and see for themselves how Ginetta is the most affordable and accessible route into motorsport.”

Meanwhile Nigel Moore said: “I’ve had an incredible 2 years with Ginetta - in 2007 I won the Junior Championship in a G20 and now I will be driving at the most exciting race in the world in an LMP1 car! It’s a real testament to the Ginetta programme that I’ve been able to come so far in such a short space of time.”  

Ginetta-Zytek’s outing presents a real hope for British fans at this year’s Le Mans -a British car, powered by a British engine and driven by a team of British drivers. For the Leeds-based Ginetta and Derby-based Zytek Motorsport, the GZ09S’s inclusion on the grid in the world’s greatest race is the ultimate success story.
