Trident GP2 Race 2 report

Davide Rigon, 7th

Davide Rigon came just short of the points zone for Trident Racing yesterday at Monte Carlo, as he ended up Race 2 of the GP2 Main Series weekend in a really decent 7th place. Rigon confirmed his constant progress, providing an additional motivation to the whole team. He followed Race 1 dominators Vitaly Petrov and Romain Grosjean all-day long, keeping the same pace of the leading pack and even surpassing it at times. The team was forced to field just the Italian's car today too after Ricardo Teixeira wasn't cleared to race. The Angolan driver failed to enter the 107% of the pole time on Qualifying. With the closure of this week's racing activity at Monte Carlo, Trident Racing is heading straightforward towards the next round of the GP2 Main Series, starting in a two-week time at Istanbul Park.

Davide Rigon. “Today's race was quite rewarding, though I woulh have been happier with a points finish under my belt. In the initial stages I struggled to get cold tires to the right temp. Once succeeded, I maintained a good pace through the middle stint. With less traffic from midpoint onwards, I could have improved my laptimes even more. With a better starting spot, a top-3 finish would have definitely been in our frame. That's just another confirmation of how much important is to grab a good starting spot here at Monte Carlo”.
