MSA Asphalt Rally Championship

Richard Egger Insurance MSA Asphalt Rally Championship - Round 4 - JIM CLARK NATIONAL RALLY (22/23rd May)

Melvyn Evans maintained the pressure on his rivals by taking outright victory on the Jim Clark National Rally at the weekend. At the wheel of his usual Subaru Impreza WRC, this was Evans' fourth straight maximum points score and, with every competitor's best five to count, the Llanwrda driver is making it very difficult for anyone else to get a look in! Co-driver Sean Mullally moves up to second place in his category but, when dropped scores come into play, his three maximums already will, no doubt, have a significant effect on the final outcome.

Defending MSA Asphalt Champions David Kynaston/Andy Russell were fastest on the first stage through Duns town centre but then their Audi A3 Quattro left the road on the second and was too badly damaged to continue.

For the second time in a fortnight, second MSA Asphalt Championship points scorers were David Mann/Alun Cook (Subaru Impreza WRC) which keeps Mann in second place in the points while Cook maintains his Co-drivers' lead.

Returning to the Championship after missing a couple of events, Simon Mauger/Brian Cammack were 3rd in their Ford Escort MkII, narrowly beating fellow two-wheel drive crew Washington James/Dai Roberts in their Darrian T90 GTR.
