Porsche Open Action Hits Brands

The Porsche Open series makes once gain visits the Brands Hatch Indy circuit for a one-hour race this Saturday, May 30th, with the quality field seeing several leading runners from last season returning to the series. The Class One cars provide the power and spectacle at the front, with the silver 993 GT2 Evo of Paul Mclean and Peter Fairbairn looking the pace setter on previous form.

The duo looked on course for a win on the Brands Indy circuit last season until an electrical problem brought the 993 to a halt, and won on the GP circuit at last year’s A1GP meeting. Class opposition is led by series returnee Gerry Harrison in his immaculate 996 GT3 RSR, and the potent 911 RS Turbo shared by Phil Price and Ross McCartney.

Class Two sees Zubin Randeria, who performed strongly last season, out in a 996 GT3 Cup car, with Alex Martin joining the series in a similar 400bhp 996. Dave Whelan races a 993 Cup car, while Clive Bate should be in the mix in his 911 RSR.

Class Three sees two series regulars lock horns. Mark Chilton, out at Anglesey in his 993 GT2, races his 928 GTS this weekend, providing a welcome additional body shape to the series. Mike Johnson, out last season in a Class One 996, once more races his trusty 911 SC.

With qualifying at 11.50 on Saturday morning, the race is scheduled for 17.50 on Saturday afternoon.
