With High Hopes
Following on from his superb result at Langbaurgh earlier this month, County Durham rally driver Chris Anderson is hoping to continue his good form when he contests next weekend's Keith Frecker Memorial Weeton Stages Rally at Weeton Camp near Blackpool.
The seventh place overall and novice class win on the ALM Autodrome Stages Rally was the latest in a string of good performances for the 17-year-old maintenance engineer from Butterknowle who will once more team up with fellow Durham Auto Club co-driver Chris Thirling, in their MSR Motorsport prepared and Wilkinson Maintenance Ltd-sponsored Ford Puma S1600, which also has the additional backing of Bell's Truck Sales for the Blackpool South Shore Motor Club event.
Anderson is also hoping to move up the points table in the AS Performance North of England Tarmacadam Rally Championship, of which the event is a qualifying round, whereby he currently holds 11th place.
"This is going to be a very tough event as there is a top quality entry and lots of the leading drivers in the region are entered. I've not been in the car since our last rally so I'm hoping to be able to carry on from where we left off and I'll be doing my best. I've never been to Weeton but I've heard that the kerbs are unforgiving so I'll have to be neat and tidy and if we can get a good result, it will help our championship aspirations" said Chris.
The first of the capacity 75 crews leaves the start at 9.00am and will tackle 12 stages totalling around 55 miles. There is no spectator access to the venue and further information can be found at bssmc.com
