Arai celebrate 25 years of TT support

OF TT SUPPORT

Arai has produced a striking, one-off helmet to help commemorate its 25 years officially supporting the TT and its riders.

With 2009 also representing 25 years of Arai being officially imported into the UK, the design on the new, range-topping RX-7 GP helmet incorporates these two separate themes; the Isle of Man triskelion flag on one side and on the other the red, white and blue of the Union flag.

The helmet will be worn by Uel Duncan Honda rider, Gary Johnson, during the TT Superbike race on Saturday June 6 when he sets off as first starter on bike no.1.

The 27-year old Lincolnshire rider made his TT debut in 2007, clocking an impressive best lap of just under 123mph and in 2008 enjoyed four, top-six finishes in the Superbike, Senior and Supersport races.

After the Superbike race the helmet will be displayed at various events throughout the year before being auctioned off at the NEC Motorcycle Show in November with all proceeds going to the charity group, Riders for Health. Arai is firm supporter of the award-winning social enterprise that works to make sure all health workers in Africa have access to reliable transportation so they can reach the most isolated and vulnerable people with regular and predictable health care.

Gary Johnson commented, ‘I feel very honoured to play a part in Arai’s TT celebrations and I think this helmet looks mega - just a shame I don’t get to keep it! Seriously, nothing performs round the TT better than an Arai and by choosing the number one plate I’ll be leading this year’s charge in the new RX-7 GP, so no pressure.’

It is no surprise that up to 80% of the TT paddock chooses Arai as the Japanese brand has always been a strong supporter of the famous races. As well as being current financial sponsor, every year Arai supplies a race and public helmet service support team for the TT fortnight. Once again Arai will supply all the marshals with clothing along with the 10-strong Yamaha-riding travelling marshals choosing to wear Arai helmets.

Throughout the TT fortnight race fans are also being given the chance to ‘test ride’ the new RX-7 GP – free of charge – around the world’s most demanding circuit. For more information, visit the Arai Race Service Support Team, located behind the grand stand, during the TT.
