X-Bow v Ginetta....

IN SCOTTISH GT4 BATTLE

The Knockhill GT4 battle is certain to be absorbing also, not least because the dominant Ginetta G50 chassis is likely to face some serious opposition in the shape of the KTM X-BOW, which is set to move up to the class if last-minute tyre testing goes to plan.

Should all go well, ABG Motorsport plans to field one of the striking sports cars for Marcus Clutton and Phil Keen.

The class will have a different look to it also because points leader Nigel Moore, 17, will be off making history at Le Mans as the youngest-ever British competitor. His driving partner, Jody Firth, plans to handle the Team WFR Ginetta G50 on his own next weekend and, given the part he played in the team's wins at Oulton, Spa and Rockingham, he is certain to be a contender for class victory.

Firth's chief rival will be the Ginetta shared by Hunter Abbott and Gary Simms, which has won the class twice already this season and which will be poised to profit should double-stinting Jody show any weariness at the wheel. A third Ginetta will be in action for Ian Stinton, who is to be co-driven by Ginetta G20 championship race-winner Paul Marsh.

The championship is sponsored by Avon Tyres and is further supported by motorsport insurance specialist AON, by Sunoco Racing Fuels and by Anglo American Oil Company.

Provisional GT4 championship placings after round 61= Jody Firth & Nigel Moore 373 Ian Stinton 244= Gary Simms & Hunter Abbott 20 etc
