TOUGH TIME HOME & AWAY FOR MVR-D SUZUKI
MVR-D Suzuki's Carl Nunn, continued his podium form at the weekend, despite round six of the MMX British Championship, held at Leuchars in Scotland, proving to be a tough round for the RM-Z450 rider.
In the first race of the day, Nunn would come from sixth out of the gate to take the lead, before a problem with his exhaust would force him to pit for a quick replacement. Re-joining the race, Nunn would naturally struggle to make up lost time, settling for 16th at the flag.
Determined to put the misfortune behind him in race two, Nunn quickly moved into second position, holding it comfortably before a stall forced him to restart his attack, eventually re-passing several rivals to bring it home in an impressive runner-up position behind winner Brad Anderson.
Nunn commented, "Obviously a podium visit is good, but I'm pretty disappointed. The first race was a real blow and with one round to go it feels like the championship is slipping away from me. Naturally we'll dig deep at the last round at Culham, but I fear it's too late now."
On the World stage, MVR-D Suzuki's Mattis Karro had a weekend to forget after a goggle problem in the first MX2 race at the Belgian Grand Prix in Lommel forced the Latvian to pit for replacements. A better start in the second race, saw the RM-Z250 rider as high as fourth place, before a big crash forced him out of contention.
Team manager, Mark Chamberlain: "A tough weekend all round really. Carl rode well but was dogged by misfortune, and the same can be pretty much said for Mattis. Fortunately the shoulder injury sustained by Mattis in his crash is not bad and he'll be fit in no time. Carl will naturally do his best at the last round of the MMX series, but it will require some luck combined with his usual huge effort."
Overall result: 1st Elliott Banks-Browne, 2nd Kristian Whatley, 3rd Brad Anderson, 4th Alex Snow, 5th Ray Rowson, 6th Gordon Crockard, 7th Danny Smyth, 8th Carl Nunn (SUZUKI), 9th Jamie Law, 10th Tony Craig.
