ADAC GT Masters

Final spurt from the Nürburgring for Team Rosberg in ADAC GT MastersThe crucial stage in the ADAC GT Masters title battle begins for Team Rosberg between 20 and 23 August: The third last of the highest German sportscar league’s seven race weekends is held at the Nürburgring. Two of Team Rosberg’s drivers are hot on the heels of the championship leaders and aim to increase the pressure yet again. With 37 points Nicolas Armindo/César Campaniço, who drive one of the two Audi R8 LMS fielded by Team Rosberg, lie within striking distance of championship leader Christian Abt (48 points) and Jan Seyffarth (46 points). Since a maximum of 20 points are awarded each race weekend the spectators can look forward to a heated title battle with six individual races within eight weeks."Every sportsman relishes the feeling when a championship battle enters the final countdown,” says Team Boss Arno Zensen. "It is exactly this phase which we reach in the ADAC GT Masters from the Nürburgring race onwards. Obviously it’s all about the lead for César and Armindo. Both are highly motivated. The same can be said about our team. It’s several years ago that they last had the chance to fight successfully for a title – at that time in the BMW Formula ADAC and Formula 3.” The ADAC GT Masters is a part of Germany’s most exciting sportscar festival, the ADAC 1000 km race, since the Le Mans Series also starts in the Eifel. "The fans can expect a motorsport weekend of the highest calibre,” says a delighted Zensen. "We hope that the public support this excellent offer.” César Campaniço, who has claimed three podium results this year with team mate Nicolas Armindo in the ADAC GT Masters, looks ambitiously towards the race weekend: "I’m confident that we’ll be very competitive. The Audi R8 LMS has repeatedly been a positive surprise this year. Lady luck deserted us last time out at the EuroSpeedway. I’m convinced that things will be better again in the Eifel. I’m particularly looking forward to the 5.148 kilometre circuit layout – the longer the track the better things are for me.”Regular driver Sakon Yamamoto tested the second Team Rosberg Audi R8 LMS at Hockenheim between races. The former Formula 1 driver from Japan is highly motivated and aims to finally score points. His previous team mate Oliver Mayer switches to a FIA GT3 cockpit in Team Rosberg. A gentleman driver will take the vacant place alongside Yamamoto at the Nürburgring at short notice. Including driver change the two races always last 60 minutes. DSF broadcasts the highlights between 13:15 and 14:15 on 29 August and repeats them on 5 September between 10:15 and 11:15.The schedule at the NürburgringThursday, 20 August: 12:05–13:05 free practice 1; 16:00–17:00 free practice 2; Friday 21 August: 15:05–15:55 qualifying; Saturday, 22 August: 14:40–15:40 race 1; Sunday, 23 August: 10:00–11:00 race 2
