Bonanomi puts his mark on Euroseries 3000

FMSI WINS IN THE TEAMS CHAMPIONSHIP

Marco Bonanomi is the first king of Rome in the 2009 Euroseries 3000 by PartyPokerRacing. The italian driver, won the first race in Vallelunga, a succes with which hetakes back the championship lead, with a two points gap on Fabio Onidi.

Bonanomi built his win right from the start, when he was able to overtake the slowstarting Fabio Crestani thundering right on Will Bratt's tail. The English poleman madeof a good start, but that wasn't enough to keep him safe from Bonanomi's attack.

Marco tried the inside at the Cimini corner, succeeded in the pass and took the lead.Behind the field was hot, with Crestani passed by Onidi and Rodolfo Gonzalez: thevenezuelan had a good start but he made contact with Fabio, damaging the car and slippingback to eighth position.

The clashing cars caused a bit of confusion in the group, splitting it in two parts: Bonanomi,Bratt and Onidi ahead of Crestani, Ben Hanley, Juan CarlosSistos, Francesco Dracone and Gonzalez.

From then on, the race was very tactical, with the three lead drivers divided by only half of asecond. Behind them, the most exciting duel was the one between Crestani and Hanley; inthe first laps the two were very close, but TP Formula's italian driver managed to lap in thesame times as the lead pack, as he did all  weekend, and in the end he was able to pullaway from the Team Costa Rica driver securing 4th place.

Meanwhile, in the lead, Bonanomi started raising the pace on lap 9, slowly building a gap onWill Bratt which eventually reached 1”5. This happened while Onidi was experiencing tyreproblems, slowly losing contact with the leading duo.

Bratt's choice was to wait until the last five laps to try the final forcing. He managed to clinchthe fastest lap (and the resulting extra point) and to cut the gap to 0”5, anyway not closeenough to try an overtaking manoeuvre. So, the final classification was unchanged, withBonanomi 1st followed by Bratt, Onidi, Crestani, Hanley, Sistos, Dracone and Gonzales. Thismeant also that Fisichella Motorsport International is the Champion team of the 2009Euroseries 3000 by PartyPoker Racing. With 112 points the FMSI team has a 48 pointsadvantage on the EmiliodeVillota.com team, a gap that can't be filled with three races to go.

DRIVERS QUOTESMarco Bonanomi: “I'very happy about my start, i managed to overtake Crestani and thatwas vital to the following pass on Bratt. I tried the inside in the Cimini corner and it was agood and fair pass. At the end I had to slow a bit due to some fuel pump issues, but it wasnothing important”.

Will Bratt: “I believe that if I managed to stay in front at the start I could have won, so I'mnot happy. I had a good start but Marco's one was better, that's the difference. Then, in theCimini corner I decided not to close the door because I thought that it was too far to try apass. I was wrong. Anyway ten points are very good for the championship.”

Fabio Onidi: “I had a good start, I passed Crestani but then Gonzalez crashed into me frombehind, luckily without any damage. I thought that my race could be more aggressive but Ihad to face some tyres problems after the first half. I had too much oversteer so i decided tokeep my third place safe for the championship”.
