Two Moore races to decide Ginetta Junior Championship

Twenty-four points separate the top two in the Ginetta Junior Championship with Henderson Insurance as the teams head to Brands Hatch for the final two races of the season.

For the first time on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, the teenage sensations in Ginetta’s 1400cc pocket-rockets have a title to decide. Sarah Moore heads the way by just 24 points from Jake Cook, with Sarah having bagged five wins to Jake’s eight. However, Cook has suffered two retirements, at Snetterton and Silverstone, plus a 20-point reduction in points from Oulton Park for his part in an accident. Hence Sarah is in the box seat at present but with 37 points per race on offer, including those for pole and fastest lap, anything could happen.

There is also Aaron Williamson to consider as he is a further 20 points back from Cook and while he heads into the brace of races with the hardest task ahead of him, the season has been so dramatic that it may just go in his favour.  He has taken three race wins this season, while other wins have been claimed by Alex Austin (at Oulton Park) and the rapid but under-funded Jake Hill who has been forced to skip the second half of the season.

Now, this talk of championships is all well and good, but you need to add in those front-runners who can affect the way that the points are distributed. So keep an eye on Chris Swanwick who has been a regular on the podium this year, the ever-improving Tom Howard who has been quickening his pace...and David Moore who has been able to run at the front as well. Perhaps to suggest team orders existing in the Ginetta Junior Championship with Henderson Insurance is a bit strong, but brothers occasionally help their sisters, don’t they...?

Can Sarah Moore become the first female champion on the BTCC package?

Qualifying for the Ginetta Junior Championship takes place on Saturday October 3 at 15.15 after free practice at 10.50. Race one is on Saturday at 17.40 and race two on Sunday at 12.25, both races to be run over eight laps.
