Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo newcomer, PURESPORT, has secured pole at the final race weekend of the season at Paul Ricard, France.
Mirko Venturi of the Italian-based team set a fastest time of 2:10.837 in the 30-minute qualifying session, despite it being only his first competitive outing in the Super Trofeo race car. Venturi’s team-mate Andrea Invernizzi will start on pole for tomorrow’s round 16.
Starting alongside will be current Pro-Am Drivers’ Standings leader, Claudio Rossetto, whose Petri Corse team-mate, Fabio Babini, set the second fastest time of 2:10.967. The #1 team Automobili Lamborghini VIP car will start from the second row, after Giorgio Sanna lapped the French track in 2:12.108.
“We are really happy to get pole for our first race,” said PURESPORT’s Team Manager Rosario Campagna. “As a company, we have never competed in a racing series before and only decided to enter the Super Trofeo for one race three months ago, so to be in this position is fantastic.”
