and other senior officials elected at Annual General Meeting

- Bill Carden steps down from the role after two years as Chairman

The Isle of Man TT Marshals Association has elected Terry Holmes to be their new chairman at their annual general meeting, following the decision of outgoing chairman Bill Carden to stand down.

Terry has been involved in marshalling for almost twenty years and became part of the committee in 2005. He has also previously been on the Andreas Racing Committee for a number of years.

Commenting on his election, Terry said: 

“I am delighted that the organisation has shown this faith in electing me to such a prestigious role and I will do my best to build on the good work that Bill carried out as Chairman.” 

He continued:

“We have a great bunch of people who marshal at the TT and the Manx Grand Prix and I’m really looking forward to working with everyone and making the 2010events  a success.”

Gordy Moore becomes vice chairman, a position that was previously held by Terry. Mike Barker will hold the dual role of Company Secretary and Treasurer and there are two new committee members, former Motorcycle Action Group committee man Andy Wightman and Eddie Christian, who has been involved with marshalling since the 1960’s. Former TT and MGP Clerk of the Course Neil Hanson and ex-Chairman Roger Hurst have been elected as patrons.

Hon Martyn Quayle, MHK, Minister for Tourism and Leisure, Isle of Man Government, commented:

“Everyone associated with the TT is really grateful for the outstanding work that Bill Carden delivered in his two years as Chairman. He has done a fantastic job in ensuring that this vital organisation is able to operate to the highest standards.”

He continued: 

“We look forward to working with Terry and his committee, and all the other marshals, to operate an organisation that goes from strength to strength and one that is the envy of other motorsport events.”
