Finalists announced for Carrera Cup GB Scholarship
The six young racing drivers selected as finalists in the second year of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholarship Programme have been announced. Created and run by Porsche Cars GB, the 'Carrera Cup GB Scholarship Programme' will provide £50,000 to each of two drivers to use as a significant element of their budget for the 2010 Carrera Cup GB season.The six finalists will now be put through a rigorous two-day evaluation process at the Porsche Driving Experience Centre at Silverstone on 20/21 October, including driving the 420bhp 911GT3 Cup car on the Silverstone National circuit.The six finalists are:Rory Butcher; age 22 from Kirkcaldy, Fife2009 season: Scottish and National FF1600 ChampionshipsEuan Hankey; aged 22 from Taunton, Somerset2009 season: did not race (formerly raced in Formula BMW)Andrew Herron; aged 21 from Co Down, Northern Ireland2009 season: Elf Renault Clio CupMichael Meadows; aged 21 from Oxford2009 season: did not race (formerly raced in British GT)Joe Osborne; aged 20 from Olney, Bucks2009 season: GT4 European CupTom Sharp; aged 18 from Camberley, Surrey2009 season: Ginetta G50 CupThe 2010 Carrera Cup GB Scholars will be announced on 26 October.
