With 14 TT wins under his belt and 22 podium visits in all sidecar ace Dave Molyneux has announced that he and new passenger, Gary Partridge, will be the official Kawasaki Sidecar entry at the 2010 Isle of Man TT Races.
The 46 year old Manxman Molyneux, who has won 14 TT’s and is currently level in third place with legend Mike Hailwood on the all time TT winners list, is feeling confident that he can add to the total in 2010.
Speaking about the news Dave said:
“Nobody has ever won a TT in Kawasaki colours, so there is a lot of motivation in the team to secure an historic victory at next year’s TT. I’ve got a great team around me and the TT organisers are always incredibly supportive. Together with my passenger Gary, we will all do our utmost to get on the top step of the podium at next year’s event”.
Racing Coordinator for Kawasaki Motor UK, Ross Burridge, echoed the enthusiasm of Molyneux and Partridge, saying:
“It’s been some time since KMUK supported a sidecar effort at the TT. To be associated with such a successful competitor and to be focusing on a podium or even possible victory is a really exciting prospect for TT fans the world over.”
Molyneux will face a tough challenge at the 2010 TT with many of the riders acknowledging that the TT is now the unofficial world championship. Current World Sidecar Champions Tom and Ben Birchall will be looking to improve on their debut performance on the Island in 2009 when they recorded a fastest lap of 110.615mph but retired from the race when they were in 6th position.
Former three time World Champion Tim Reeves, who has teamed up with four time champion passenger Dan Sayle, will try and put a disappointing TT year behind him and emulate his 2008 performance when he achieved a podium as a newcomer.
Current British Sidecar Champions John Holden and Andy Winkle will also hope to be amongst the front runners and to go one better than their best ever finish of second.
Hon Martyn Quayle, MHK, Minister for Tourism and Leisure, Isle of Man Government, commented:
“We are delighted that Kawasaki are supporting Sidecar racing at the TT and we wish them and Dave Molyneux and Gary Partridge all the best in their endeavours in 2010. The Sidecar race is already looking extremely competitive which should provide some great racing..”
