LAKESIDE secured the Elite League Knockout Cup with a 49-41 second leg win at Coventry for their first-ever item of top-flight silverware.The Hammers already held a convincing lead going into the meeting and skipper Adam Shields led their charge with 16 points.Shields said: "It's a great night for the club and we're all pleased for the promotion after their hard work in the last three years."

BIRMINGHAM owner Tony Mole is to stand down after the club's final match of the season against Stoke on Wednesday.Mole has already agreed a deal with Swindon's Gary Patchett to take over,with former Peterborough promoter Mick Bratley also joining and Graham Drurystaying on.Mole said: "I wish Gary all the very best. It's a sad time for me in many ways, but I could never continue forever."

RYE House promoter Len Silver has issued a race-day update and insists the first leg of the Young Shield Final will go ahead as planned.The Rockets take on Workington , with the second leg at Derwent Park on Sunday afternoon.Silver said: "We've had some bad weather but all the forecasts are much better and we're definitely running, it should be a super meeting."
