Trident Racing complete successful Abu Dhabi test

Trident Racing spent a great couple of days at Abu Dhabi, preparing for the third edition of the GP2 Asia Series. The Italian squad, as well as drivers Johnny Cecotto Jr. and Plamen Kralev, discovered the new track built around the Yas Marina, set to host its inaugural races next weekend. The GP2 Asia Series will be an ideal companion for the final round of the Formula 1 World Championship on the Emirates racetrack, which proved tough as expected during the two days of testing on Friday and Saturday.Cecotto took its first spin on the Asia Series racecar, slightly different from the Main Series' one he drove at Jerez. The Venezuelan driver performed well and provided his technical staff with some great feedback, helping out in the development for the start of the 2009-2010 season. Cecotto enjoyed a flawless experience, and was really satisfied with the job done despite not being able to profit from the best grip of his fresh tires due to traffic. In both days the track proved faster in the first part of the morning and in the final 30 minutes of the PM session. As a consequence, all the drivers decided to enter the track in a really limited timeframe. Plagued by traffic, Johnny's effort has been great since telemetry showed a clear top-5 potential. Kralev did a good job too. The Bulgarian, formerly driving GT and Touring cars, faced a steep learning curve. On a new racetrack, and on an unknown car, Kralev had his first contact with a GP2 Series car. At the end of a tough 2-day session, he expressed positive feelings, and thanked the team for the help received. He constantly improved his performance level over the test, and an huge room for improvement is still foreseeable. The personnel of Trident Racing is now preparing for the Asia Series' grand opening. The on-track weekend will be starting on Friday while an outstanding entertainment program is set to highlight the event, featuring several International music artists.Friday, AM Session9.
