Team SAS takes Supercup podium in Abu Dhabi
British racer Richard Westbrook claimed a podium finish for Team SAS during the Porsche Supercup races supporting the F1 World Championship finale in Abu Dhabi (31 October/1 November). As the team joined the Supercup for the first time, Westbrook finished third in the final race of the season while team mate James Sutton capped his weekend with a top ten finish in the opening race.Team SAS, which is operated by British team Red Line Racing, fielded two cars at the Yas Marina track as a build-up towards a full Supercup campaign and entered cars for Westbrook and Sutton. Both drivers are former Porsche Carrera Cup GB champions, Westbrook having won the title in 2004 and Sutton in 2007."I'm absolutely delighted to come away with a podium," said Westbrook. "Everyone in Team SAS and Red Line Racing can be very proud of themselves for their first race in the Supercup. To be two-tenths off the top pace is very good, because the Supercup is one of the toughest championships in the world."To make it an excellent weekend for graduates from the Carrera Cup GB, Nick Tandy scored a superb second place overall in the opening race. He made his Porsche debut at the wheel of the Carrera Cup GB VIP car in August 2008. Meanwhile, former Carrera Cup GB champion Damien Faulkner took fourth place in the second race to finish sixth in the final standings and Richard Williams was tenth in the final race to secure eighth in the Supercup standings
