Redwings Horse Sanctuary, one of the UK’s largest horse charities, is hoping that F1 fans will want to bid on a Jenson Button lot it has in its fundraising auction next month. Every penny raised will help horses in need.
As well as a canvas signed by Jenson of the Brawn-Mercedes BGP001 on its way to victory in Monaco this year, the charity also has the rear wing of the Honda RA108 car that Jenson drove in Monza last season, which is being auctioned with paperwork from the team guaranteeing its authenticity.
Norfolk-based Redwings, which relies solely on the public’s generosity to care for its 1100 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules, is holding a Silver Jubilee auction in Norwich on 28th November. Celebrity auctioneer on the night is Paul Martin, presenter of Flog it! and Trust me I’m a Dealer. F1 fans need not worry if they can’t get to Norwich as absentee bids may be made beforehand.
Numerous ‘money can’t buy’ experiences including a five star holiday, an exclusive Eastenders Albert Square street sign autographed by the cast, celebrity photos and doodles are among the lots.
“We thought we were extremely lucky to have been donated a signed canvas print of Jensen’s BGP001 car on its way to victory in Monaco this year,” explains communications manager Nicola Markwell. “However to get the rear wing of his Honda car from last season as well makes the prize something really special, particularly as it was the team’s last season racing as Honda. We know many motor racing fans would love something like this to display at home or businesses such as restaurants may think it’s great for customers to admire. We have already had a lot of interest in the signed print but we expect the wing to really take off.”
Tickets to attend the auction are now for sale at £15pp and absentee bids will be accepted in advance by post. Please contact Gemma Carnell at Redwings on 01508 481015, write to Redwings Horse Sanctuary, Hapton, Norwich, NR15 1SP or email gcarnell@redwings.co.uk.
