MTECH back with a bang for British GT 2010

The Avon Tyres British GT Championship is sizing up to offer a vintage season in 2010, with MTECH Racing the latest squad to confirm its plans - and its race- and championship-winning ambitions.

MTECH was the first team to score a UK race victory with the new Ferrari 430 Scuderia, at Silverstone in August courtesy drivers Matt Griffin and Duncan Cameron, and both men will be returning to the Staffordshire-based team and its Ferrari with the aim of further race victories next season. MTECH has high hopes of running a second GT3 car also, as well as one or two in the new GT Cup category.

"We can confirm that Matt will be doing a complete season with us next year," says team boss Mike Edmonds, "and obviously we are very pleased about that and we think it puts us potentially in a championship-winning position, not least because we have now ironed out a lot of the early-season gremlins we had this year.

"We are also very hopeful of running a second Scuderia; we are in very deep discussions with two drivers about this already and hopefully we can soon make an announcement confirming this. We also talking to two drivers very keen to run their cars in the Cup class, so it's all happening."

MTECH Racing is just returned from a successful foray to the Catalunya GT Open races at Barcelona, in which Griffin and Cameron scored a notable GTS category win.

MTECH's news comes hot on the heels of an announcement from Chad Racing that it will be upping its entry in the championship in 2010 to a brace of Ferrari 430 Scuderias, and news from Team Modena that it plans to be back on the grid with its brace of Lamborghini Gallardos.
