MOTORS TV and WRC break new ground

From 2010 the FIA World Rally Championship will expand its coverage on Motors TV and benefit from an unprecedented level of dedication, along with a major boost to the on-board side!

For each of the 13 rounds of the 2010 season, Motors TV will be airing a new customised package of onboards and daily news round-ups on a Friday, Saturday & Sunday evening.

But the major change to the coverage will be the amount of onboard footage that will feature in the 48 minute-long daily highlight shows.

“I’ve always felt WRC’s onboard footage is state of the art”, said Motors TV Head of Programming & Acquisitions, Frédéric Viger, “and while mainstream broadcasters need to make a mainstream show our channel is all about the hardcore fans. They’re the sort of viewers who want to BE the driver when watching the coverage on their flat-screen televisions, and that is just what we’re going to offer them. In fact, more than 50% of our highlight packages will be dedicated to onboard footage, giving a brand new feeling to the show.”

“We are delighted to announce the extended agreement with Motors TV,” commented Simon Long, ISC CEO. “The deal provides us with the opportunity to showcase our extensive onboard footage and provide WRC fans with a new dimension of the sport”.

The new three-year deal signed with ISC/North One Television represents a major step in the channel’s development, as confirmed by Motors TV President, Jean-Luc Roy: “WRC is one of only three FIA World Championships, and one of the toughest. It has a very strong appeal to all of our European viewers, many of whom stand along the road sides to cheer the drivers on during the events. The arrival of the WRC will definitely help build the channel’s profile even further and increase our subscriber base. As we’ve done with the Le Mans 24 Hours in the past, we will create a new high standard in terms of coverage”.

Motors TV’s coverage of the 2010 WRC will start in mid-February with Rally Sweden, but the channel is also working closely with promoter ISC in order to develop year-long coverage using the extensive archive footage available, so stay tuned!
