(SPEEDWAY 1) UNDER 21 World Cup star Klaus Jakobsen has agreed to join Peterborough.The Danish international will line up in the Readypower Panthers' new-look squad as Adam Roynon's doubling up partner.Jakobsen, 20, has agreed a two-way contract that will see him available when he doesn't have any meetings for his Premier League club Stoke.He said: "It's a big season for me, it's my last year in the Under 21s and Ihave put a lot of money into it to make sure this season works."I'm going out to fight for everything. I want to prove what I can do and hopefully go into the Elite League only next season."

(SPEEDWAY 2) NEWCASTLE insist Mark lemon will be fit for the start of the new British season - despite suffering a crushed vertebrae.The popular Australian fell in the opening round of his national championships last weekend and his place will now be taken by Wolves and King's Lynn youngster Joe Haines.Diamonds boss George English said: "At first it seemed it was nothing more than bad bruising but he had a second opinion on the x-rays which confirmed the crushed vertebrae."He will rest for a while before beginning physio in about three weeks and there are no problems with him making the start of our season in March."

(SPEEDWAY 3) CHRIS Holder has retained the Australian Championship after a dramatic series decider at Mildura.Poole star Holder started the third round four points behind new Peterborough signing Troy Batchelor, who had won the previous two events.But Batchelor failed to reach the Final, allowing Holder to overturn the deficit and take the Championship, with Darcy Ward and Rory Schlein completing the top four. Holder said: "I really had to fight for this one. This is a big track and everyone is really quick here so to make the final itself is a pretty good effort and having to go out and win it, there was a bit of pressure there."Now that the Championship is done, I'll just send some stuff back to England and start getting ready for that season, I don't think I have to be back there until March so I'll just rest up until then and get ready."

(SPEEDWAY 4) FORMER Stoke skipper Paul Pickering has topped a supporters' vote for theclub's Rider of the Decade.Pickering, who suffered serious arm injuries in 2005, took the award ahead of Jan Staechmann, Alan Mogridge and Ben Barker.Potters promoter Dave Tattum said: "Paul was a top rider when he was with Stoke and was a credit to the club both on and off the track, and he's obviously been remembered fondly by the Stoke supporters for all his efforts. "He had numerous successes here at Stoke and will always be remembered going around the safety fence with Jan and Alan to gain us some superb victories,and we all have happy memories of him being with us in the Potteries."
