Motorbase Performance unveils six-car Carrera Cup GB squad
Motorbase Performance has unveiled plans to field a record-breaking six-car team in the 2010 Porsche Carrera Cup GB. The squad, announced on the Porsche stand at Autosport International, represents the biggest team ever planned in the eight-year history of the Carrera Cup GB.Team boss David Bartrum has confirmed four of his six drivers and will reveal the names of his two pro category drivers shortly. In the pro-am1 category, Motorbase will run cars for Ollie Jackson and Liam Griffin, while Steve Parish and George Richardson will represent the squad in the pro-am2 category.Bartrum plans to run two trucks and two awnings, with three cars in each half of the operation. Never before has a team run six cars throughout a season of the Carrera Cup GB. "We're set for a busy year and this is a fantastic opportunity for Motorbase to really establish itself in the Carrera Cup," said Bartrum. "We've got two strong teams and the right people to engineer the cars. We've got a good mix of drivers across the team; they are all at different stages of their careers."Jackson returns for a full season after a fine debut year in pro-am1. He was the only driver to finish every one of the 20 races in 2010 and was a pro-am1 podium finisher as he made tremendous progress through the season.Parish and Griffin both joined the series in the second half of last season as a build up towards full programmes in 2010. Former VW Cup pacesetter Griffin was immediately running strongly in pro-am1 on his Carrera Cup debut at Silverstone, while racing newcomer Parish joined the Carrera Cup as soon as he had upgraded his race licence to National A status and won the pro-am2 category at Rockingham. Finally, former Ginetta Junior racer Richardson is set for a full season after budget problems cut his 2009 season short at the start of the year. He will still only be 18 when the 2010 season finishes next October and will join Parish as a leading contender for the pro-am2 title.
