Raikkonen set for Arctic rally warm-up

 Iin The Arctic Rally 2009, his first professional rally competition, Kimi finished 13th overall whilst up against  Mika Hakkinen,  Jyrki Järvilehto (JJ), Mika Salo and the Finnish National champion Juha Salo.

The event, which takes place on the edge of the Arctic Circle, is just two weeks before his slated WRC debut in Rally Sweden.

The rally is the opening round of the prestigious Finnish Rally Championship and has previously been won by the likes of WRC legends Marcus Gronholm, Tommi Makinen and Hannu Mikkola.

Kaj Lindstrom, who partnered Raikkonen on his rally debut in an Abarth Grande Punto at the same event this year, will again by the former Ferrari driver’s co-driver.

"Getting the Arctic Rally in our programme was a key factor,” Lindstrom told , “we really wanted to include it as a pre-season test. It's a rally that Kimi and I have already done together in the Fiat, so he knows the stages - more or less - and it will be a good opportunity for him to build confidence in his driving and the pace notes.”
